GET MORE INFOInternational Holy Books Conference Every two years
URI South India Sri Lanka Region announces the 7th International Holy Books Conference scheduled to be held in Bangkok during 1-2 September, 2017 (including travel days). The theme this year will be “Holy Books and Creation Theories- In Search of the Original Cosmic Design”. This conference in the intertextuality series commenced in the year 2005, when a few scholars who met together at Melbourne University, Australia for an interfaith conference came to support it and it is being held every other year. A group of committed stalwarts from around the world assemble once in two years and keep the torch burning. The previous one was held in the Sarvodaya Centre for Higher Learning, Sri Lanka in 2015.
A book will be published prior to the conference with all seminar papers. All our dear scholars are requested to send their papers (not more than ten printed pages) before 31st May 2017. Papers received after this will not be included in the book. Participants have to find their own means of travel. Hospitality will be provided. All participants are requested to book their tickets so as to arrive Bangkok in the morning of 1st September, 2017.
“One Billion Youth for Peace”.
MISSION STATEMENT
We did not create this world; we inherited this beautiful formation, which is a blessing beyond description. It is a pity that the human beings could not fully realise the purpose of the cosmic order; we were competing to forge a hell out of a heaven. We have to reverse this erroneous process and straighten our paths to progress. If we don’t do it now, it will be too late to lament; we may not get a moment to repent, when the rockets fly and fill the space with fire.
Background
During the URI Youth Assembly held at Karickam International Public School, Kottarakara in August 2019 and the subsequent “Students Summit of Religions on Climate Action Today For a Healthier Tomorrow” held at St. John’s School, Anchal in January 2020, a call for World Peace movement was evolved as a follow up action. With immense faith in the young ones, we rise up to regain sanity. We will have one billion voices together, appealing to the conscience of the world and the masters on the driving seat on the fragments of the given earth. We aspire to leave a glorious globe for our children and grand- children to thrive. Let us be peace ambassadors all over the world, saying no to war and terror. We are strong; we will not falter. We are one; we will not break. Yes, we are marching forward. We bid adieu to lethargy and fear. We will shine as the radiant sun.
Students Summit Of Religions 2020
We will not rest until we win. This victory will not be for a fortunate few, but for all the ones who are fortunate to be born on this planet, our planet.
Launching & 1st Pledge Ceremony
Having recognized the value of the call for world peace, we launched this process; the process of a beautiful transformation. 1 billion Youth for Peace Initiative is a unique and ambitious project in the field of interfaith relations in its design, scale, and scope. We foster empathy, invite understanding, and advance common action between people of diverse faiths through the shared efforts. Dear ones, young and old, this is a humble beginning, but the start of a long march, which has immense implications in saving humanity from the verge of total annihilation. Let us unite together in this global peace campaign by signing the pledge as expression of solidarity. The following common wordings of Peace Pledge are recommended to be used.
